Det Blev Handgemäng

July 9, 2026

Det Blev Handgemäng is the creaking wagon wheel rolling through the wilderness, the echo of a bugalú after the last godforsaken guest has been thrown out of the bar, the long walk toward the casino after you’ve been fired. Det Blev Handgemäng on your street, outside your house – and you liked it!

Det Blev Handgemäng is not a blues band, not a country band, and not a roots band. They know their stuff, but they are not a band that preserves music and locks it away in a museum. Instead, they play North American folk music in a way that makes it feel urgent.

Despite all the joking around, Det Blev Handgemäng are no jokers. The music is taken deadly seriously, as it should be. No one misses it when the machinery starts moving. Svensson and Jansson drive the groove forward, Engberg glues it together perfectly and gives it a steady foundation, and Johansson floats on top and adds flair. That Jansson, Johansson, and Engberg have sung together on a thousand stages is also clear when the phrasing in their three-part harmony fits like a glove.
